NEW YORK, June 3 /PR Newswire/ -- Bridge Design
announced that it was honored today with a Silver Award in the
2003 Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) for its product
design work on the Deltec Cozmo™ Insulin Pump.
Introduced in December, 2002, the Deltec Cozmo™ is a cell
phone-sized device that is worn by a person with diabetes to
deliver insulin continuously. Today’s MDEA award is in
recognition of the pump’s easy-to-use features that help
people with diabetes increase their health and quality of life.
Bridge Design provided feature definition, user interface design,
and industrial design for the Deltec Cozmo™ pump. “Defining
the product as a 'lifestyle-advantage' was a key insight that
has made the Cozmo a radical departure from earlier generations
of insulin pumps," said Bill Evans, President of Bridge
Design.
“Deltec and Bridge recognized that diabetes affects each
person differently,” noted Rhall Pope, Vice President
of Research and Development for Deltec. “Cozmo was designed
so that individuals can personalize their insulin pump therapy
based on their treatment goals, lifestyle considerations, and
acceptance of insulin pump technology.”
The Silver Award was jointly presented to Deltec, Bridge Design,
and Advanced Molding Technologies at the 2003 Medical Design
& Manufacturing (MD&M) East Conference and Exposition.
